Chocolate lovers are in for a treat Sunday.

The annual Chocolate Festival is a key fundraiser for the La Salle County Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers guide abused and neglected children though court proceedings.

This year, organizers are hoping for a record turnout.

CASA has to absorb the loss of $20,000 in federal funds due to budget cuts and is hoping much of it can be offset by a better-than-usual showing at the Chocolate Festival, CiCi Chalus, the La Salle County CASA executive director, told the County Board at its March meeting where she made an annual report.

Those funds accounted for more than one-fifth of the total annual budget, she said.

In 2012, the Chocolate Festival raised approximately $13,000 — so there is a lot of chocolate that needs to be consumed, she said.
